What "NBI checked, ID matched, Interviewed" actually mean on Kalingap

Quick answer

Each Kalingap badge names one check that was completed for that caregiver. NBI checked means our team reviewed their NBI clearance. ID matched means a government ID (front and back) was reviewed against the profile. Interviewed means they completed an interview with our team. NC II means they submitted a TESDA Caregiving NC II certificate that we reviewed. Not every badge appears on every profile. Approval can complete without a scheduled interview when policy allows. A badge is a record of a check. It is not a guarantee, and it doesn't make the caregiver a Kalingap employee.

Kalingap TeamReviewed for accuracy October 6, 2026

Picture the scene. It's 11 p.m. and you're scrolling caregiver profiles for Lolo, who comes home from the hospital on Thursday. One profile says "verified." Another shows three small labels. Your Tita in Cavite messages: "Sigurado ka ba diyan? Na-check ba talaga?" Are you sure? Was she really checked?

That's the question badges should answer. A plain "verified" tick doesn't tell you what was checked, by whom, or when. So on Kalingap every badge names its check. This guide explains each one, in plain language, so families know what they're looking at and caregivers know what they're working toward.

This guide describes Kalingap's verification as of 6 October 2026. It is general information, not legal advice. Always confirm documents yourself before care starts.

The badges at a glance

Table 1. Kalingap verification badges: what each covers and what it doesn't

BadgeWhat our team checkedWhat it does not mean
NBI checkedThe caregiver submitted an NBI clearance and our team reviewed itNot a character reference, and not a promise about future conduct. A clearance reflects NBI records as of its issue date
ID matchedA government ID (front and back) was reviewed and matched to the person on the profileNot a background check by itself. It confirms identity, not experience
InterviewedThe caregiver completed an interview with the Kalingap teamNot every caregiver has this badge. Approval can complete without a scheduled interview when policy allows
NC IIThe caregiver submitted a TESDA Caregiving NC II certificate and our team reviewed itNot a nursing license. NC II doesn't authorise clinical nursing procedures

Some profiles may also show other named credentials, such as a PRC nurse license. The rule is the same for all of them: the label tells you which document or step was reviewed.

Badge by badge

NBI checked

An NBI clearance comes from the National Bureau of Investigation. It's the standard Philippine criminal-record check: applicants register on the official portal, then go to an NBI branch for fingerprints and a photo, and the clearance is printed with a QR code. Employers widely ask for one, and the Caregivers' Welfare Act (RA 11965, Sec. 6) lists an NBI or police clearance among the documents an employer may require before signing a contract.

What the badge tells you: this caregiver gave us an NBI clearance and our team reviewed it.

What it doesn't tell you: whether they're kind, punctual or good with dementia. A clearance shows records as of its issue date, and NBI clearances are generally treated as valid for about a year. If the date matters to you, ask the caregiver for their current clearance and check the date.

ID matched

Our team reviews a government ID, front and back, and checks that it matches the person on the profile: name, photo and details. This is the first line of defence against the most basic risk, someone using another person's name.

What it tells you: the person on the profile is who they say they are.

What it doesn't tell you: anything about skills or history. That's what the other badges, references and a trial shift are for.

Interviewed

Some caregivers complete an interview with our team. It's a conversation about their experience, the kinds of care they do, and how they handle common situations.

Be clear about this one, because it's easy to misread: "Interviewed" is not on every profile. Approval can complete without a scheduled interview when policy allows. If you see the badge, that caregiver completed the interview. If you don't, they haven't, or not yet. Either way, nothing stops you from doing your own interview or video call before you book.

NC II

Caregiving NC II is a National Certificate from TESDA, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. TESDA issues it after a national competency assessment against the Caregiving NC II Training Regulations, which cover care for infants, children, the elderly and people with special needs, plus safety, emergency response and household tasks. TESDA says an NC is valid for five years, and anyone can check one in TESDA's online Registry of Certified Workers.

Caregivers may submit their NC II to Kalingap. When our team has reviewed it, the badge appears.

What it doesn't mean: NC II is a skills certificate, not a nursing license. Kalingap is a marketplace for non-clinical home support, not medical staffing. For wound care, injections, medication changes or any medical decision, involve your doctor or a licensed nurse. (We explain more in NC II Caregiving certificate: why families look for it.)

How families should read a profile

Badges are a filter, not a final answer. A simple routine:

  1. Read every badge, not just the count. For Lola with dementia, you might care most about NC II and Interviewed. For a four-hour clinic run, ID matched and NBI checked may be enough for you.
  2. Notice what's missing. No "Interviewed" badge? That's information, not a red flag on its own. Do your own call.
  3. Ask to see documents in person on Day 1. Match the ID to the face at the door.
  4. Verify what you can yourself. You can look up an NC II in TESDA's Registry of Certified Workers by name or certificate number.
  5. Start with a short paid shift before giving keys or leaving someone alone with a vulnerable family member.
  6. Write the scope down: hours, tasks, rate. (See our guide to scope creep.)

Family checklist

  • Read which badges this caregiver has, and which they don't
  • Matched the ID to the person on Day 1
  • Checked the NC II in TESDA's registry, if it matters for the job
  • Did a call or video interview, especially if there's no Interviewed badge
  • Agreed hours, tasks and rate in writing
  • Planned a short trial shift

How caregivers earn badges

If you're a caregiver, badges are your portable track record. They help families who don't know you, and have no kamag-anak to vouch for you, decide to book.

The usual path on Kalingap:

  1. Send your documents. Government ID (front and back), NBI clearance, and your NC II Caregiving certificate if you have one.
  2. Our team reviews them. Each check that passes becomes a named badge on your profile.
  3. Interview, where scheduled. You may be invited to an interview with our team. If you complete it, the Interviewed badge appears.
  4. Set your services and rates, never below the platform floor for each service. (See how to set your hourly rate.)

Caregiver checklist

  • Clear photos of your government ID, front and back
  • A current NBI clearance (check the issue date)
  • Your TESDA NC II certificate, if you have one, with a certificate number that shows up in TESDA's registry
  • One or two references who will actually answer the phone
  • Your services, rates and travel radius decided

Badges show a family what was checked. They don't make you a Kalingap employee. You're an independent caregiver: families pay you directly, and Kalingap takes 0% commission.

What badges are not

Plainly:

  • Not a guarantee. Badges record checks completed at a point in time. They can't predict behaviour.
  • Not employment. Kalingap is a marketplace. Badged caregivers are independent, not Kalingap staff.
  • Not a medical credential (unless the badge names one, such as a PRC license). NC II isn't a nursing license.
  • Not a reason to skip your own judgment. Keep doing the ID check, the call and the trial.

Kalingap is a marketplace that connects families with independent caregivers in the Philippines. It is not an employment agency or a medical provider. Badges show which checks were completed for a caregiver at a point in time. They are not a guarantee of conduct or skill, and not every badge appears on every profile. Caregivers provide non-clinical home support. Always verify documents yourself and use written agreements. This article is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Does every caregiver on Kalingap have all the badges?

No. Each badge shows one check completed for that caregiver. Profiles differ, so read the badges on the specific profile you're considering.

Is every Kalingap caregiver interviewed?

No. Some caregivers complete an interview with our team and get the Interviewed badge. Approval can complete without a scheduled interview when policy allows. If an interview matters to you, look for the badge or do your own call before booking.

What does "NBI checked" mean?

The caregiver submitted an NBI clearance and our team reviewed it. A clearance reflects NBI records as of its issue date. It's not a character reference or a guarantee of future conduct.

Can I verify an NC II myself?

Yes. TESDA runs an online Registry of Certified Workers where you can search by name or certificate number. TESDA says an NC is valid for five years.

Does a badge mean the caregiver works for Kalingap?

No. Kalingap connects families with independent caregivers. Badges describe checks, not employment. Families pay caregivers directly, and Kalingap takes 0% commission and holds no money.
