JobStreet caregiver listings vs marketplace gigs — which fits you
Quick answer
Job boards like JobStreet are good for finding full-time, salaried caregiver jobs with home-care agencies, care facilities or households, usually with a fixed schedule and, if you're employed, legal benefits like SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and 13th-month pay. Marketplaces like Kalingap are for hourly or daily gigs: you set your own rate (never below the platform floor), choose your jobs and travel radius, and get paid directly by the family with 0% commission. Many caregivers use both. Pick based on whether you need stability or flexibility right now.

You've just finished your TESDA assessment, or your last live-in job ended. You open JobStreet and scroll through caregiver openings in Metro Manila. Then a friend sends a link: "Dito, ikaw na mag-set ng rate mo." Here, you set your own rate.
Which one is right for you? It depends on what you need: a steady monthly salary, or work that fits around your kids, your studies or another job.
This comparison is general information, checked 6 October 2026. We describe job boards in general terms. Listings change daily, so check them yourself. This is not legal or tax advice.

Choose a full-time job from a board like JobStreet if:
- You need a steady monthly income to cover rent, tuition or remittances home.
- You want employment benefits. Under the Caregivers' Welfare Act (RA 11965), covered caregivers who are employed get at least the regional minimum wage, overtime past 8 hours, night-shift differential, 13th-month pay, a service incentive leave after a year, and SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG coverage from day one.
- You prefer a set schedule and one workplace.
- You want structure: a supervisor, training, a team.
The trade-offs: less control over pay and hours, and an employer who decides your assignments. If the job is through an agency, the agency usually earns a margin on what the family pays.
Know your floors as an employee
In Metro Manila in 2026, the daily minimum wage for non-agriculture work is ₱755/day (Wage Order NCR-28, effective 26 Sept 2026), and the kasambahay minimum is ₱7,800/month (Wage Order NCR-DW-06, effective 7 Feb 2026). Under RA 11965, a covered caregiver's wage can't be below the regional minimum. If a full-time offer comes in under these, ask why.
When marketplace gigs fit you
Choose hourly gigs on a marketplace like Kalingap if:
- You want to choose your own hours. Take an 8-hour elderly care shift on Saturday, skip Sunday.
- You want to set your own price. On Kalingap you set a rate for each service, never below that service's floor.
- You want to keep everything you earn. Families pay you directly. Kalingap takes 0% commission and holds no money.
- You're between full-time jobs, or want extra income on your days off.
- You want a visible track record. Named badges like NBI checked, ID matched, Interviewed and NC II show families which checks you've completed. Not every caregiver has every badge, and approval can complete without a scheduled interview when policy allows. (See what each badge means.)
The trade-offs: income can vary week to week, and there are no automatic employment benefits. You manage your own SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG (as a self-employed or voluntary member) and your own records.

| Hospital watcher | from ₱110/hr |
| Elderly care | from ₱120/hr |
| Overnight care | from ₱130/hr |

Using both
You don't have to choose forever. Common patterns:
- Full-time job plus weekend gigs. A salaried facility job on weekdays, a few hospital watcher or elderly care shifts on rest days (check your contract first).
- Gigs while job hunting. Earn while you apply on job boards.
- Gigs to build experience. New NC II holders can build a visible record before applying for full-time roles.
Staying safe, whichever you choose
Fake caregiver job posts exist on every channel. Protect yourself:
- Never pay a "placement fee" to a local agency. RA 11965 (Sec. 23) says private employment agencies must not charge caregivers any recruitment or placement fees. Legitimate local agencies are licensed by DOLE.
- Overseas offers go through the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). Check that the recruiter is licensed before you hand over documents or money.
- Don't send your ID, NBI clearance or NC II to someone you can't identify. Share documents only through official channels.
- Get the terms in writing: hours, tasks, rate, rest days. RA 11965 requires a written employment contract for employed caregivers.
- Clinical tasks aren't caregiver tasks. If a "caregiver" job wants you to do wound care, injections or medication changes without a nurse or doctor, be careful.
Decision checklist
- I need steady monthly income right now → lean full-time (job board)
- I need flexible hours around family, school or another job → lean gigs (marketplace)
- I want employment benefits handled for me → full-time
- I want to set my own rate and keep 100% → marketplace
- I have my ID, NBI clearance and NC II (if any) ready for either path
- I've checked any agency or recruiter is licensed
